Steve C left this review about The Globe & Engine

The Globe and Engine seems to going down the café route as the rear is now a dining area and the management have applied to the council for permission to open at 6am. The ‘Globe and Engine’ signage on the front of the pub has been replaced with ‘A Taste of Portugal’. The opening hours at the moment are from noon until 14:00 and 17:00 until 23:00 Mondays to Fridays, noon until 23:00 on Saturdays and this pub is closed on Sundays. This is a Shepherd Neame pub with their usual range of beverages.
The two other customers were watching the television which was showing the news during my 6pm Monday evening visit. I didn’t visit the advertised beer garden at the rear.

I found the service to be friendly but I wasn’t impressed with this pub and I don’t plan to return anytime soon.

Another total letdown of a 'pub' in sittingbourne. Very poor selection of on tap beer and unfriendly bar staff. Toilets awful. I won't be going back any time soon.

E TA left this review about The Globe & Engine

Built in 1857 as part of the railway development, The Globe and Engine is a busy town centre pub, currently a Shephard and Neame house (it has been with the Brewery since 1919). It still has many Victorian features, including of note the stained glass windows and cast iron columns, and is worth a visit just for that, if you're so inclined, though the effect is slightly spoilt by the railway memorabilia scattered around the bar. It tends to attract the younger element, but is a friendly pub with a good atmosphere and a welcoming, no-nonsense landlady (Paula). When I went in neither of the two handpumps was working, so I settled for a bottle. The tv was slightly annoying, and there was a gaming machine which stayed unobtrusive. Worth dropping in when using the train, and I'd love to come back when they have some beer on tap.

Typical one room town pub outside the station. Real Ale from Sheps and a food offering.
