Plans to turn it into dwellings have come unstuck. Pub still trading and has been brightened up a bit. Just Rebellion IPA (not brilliant).

Now called the Snooty Fox, under new management from the people who previously had the Old Devil nearby. Two Rebellion ales and an interesting cider from 'Cornish Orchards' which tasted OK to me.
August 2011
A revist the other week found three ales and a cider (hooray!). Bad news was the the quality wasn't great and the first one I took back needed some persuasion in order to get it changed. The sight of the dog being chased around underneath the tables in the dining area was a high (or low) light of the evening. Love the venue, shame about the beer.

A distinctive laid-back foody pub, that seems to be run by a collective of ladies and a dog called Bandit (best ask the barmaid about his name), that nevertheless does not scrimp on the drinking side. It offers a couple of ales (usually has Rebellion) plus a real cider. The welcome is warm and cheerful and it's easy to settle in for a few pints - it feels a long way from reading here. The ambience and interior is a bit Goa (or Greenham Common circa 1983). Never tried the food but there's usually a few people in eating it - for a pub this disconnected from public transport and footpaths, that's a good sign.

A traditional pub/restaurant, The Old House guarantees you a warm welcome. As you enter, you are stepping into the home of Sarah Folley and Tim Smee - literally. Immediately you encounter deep, comfy sofas with newspapers spread out before you. Settle back and enjoy a drink with the day's news, or take advantage of the pub's free wi-fi connection. Good beers (eg Rebellion) and wines, the pub has a reputation for its excellent food. Seemingly isolated in glorious countryside, yet within easy reach of Henley, Maidenhead, the A4 etc. Dogs welcome. No garden but outside seating area for smokers etc. Accommodation available.
