They are cramming more and more tables in, this is affecting service which has suffered.
Parking is always a problem but just gets worse. Sad because it is (was) a great place.
I also get fed up of the Staff shoving the pay card reader in front of me and showing me how to give them a TIP!
This is NOT the USA and Tips are not mandatory here.
Sad decline of a lovely place.

Prime example of a Vintage Inn eating house: rambling identikit interior of 'modern rustic' in corporate designer style, with odd features like a fireplace and a bit of bogus stone flooring plus numerous old prints and photos of the area. Entirely laid up for dining, although they seemed happy enough to serve drinks only. Having said that, very tidy and slickly operated and the general atmosphere was not unpleasant. A restricted range of ales post-Covid, with just TT Landlord and London Pride on offer but the former was in excellent condition. Outside there is a large tabled patio area. OK if eating - nicer than the average family dining joint - but not worth a special trip otherwise.

Looks decent from the outside (there’s some nice outside seating at front, overlooked by woodland) but in reality it’s like a Chef & Brewer but without the charm. Large rambling interior painted in beige with wood logs filling wall gaps. Selection of papers. Three ales; Doom Bar, Pride and a so-so St Austell Tribute. Cloth-eared wally of a barman did pints on auto-pilot and struggled with concept of halves once pulled-up. A graveyard of good beer pump clips on the beam hint at better days past at the bar. Massive disappointment, pull your finger out M&B.

Looked lovely as I drove past, so I thought I would pop in, not knowing its a vintage Inn. Not really my cup of tea - a barn of an eating area with a typically uninspired menu.

It was functional for my needs of getting something to eat but not worthy of the fine building that it is housed in.

Been here a few times now. We like to claim it as "The BEST place in BRACKNELL" but Wokingham keep trying to steal it for themselves. :-) Whichever way it is a great place to eat, and they know how to look after their ale. Thanks for all the great meals.

The Golden Retriever is known in Bracknell and across Berkshire as a good country pub. We are located on the nine mile ride, an old bridleway created for Queen Anne. There is always a warm welcome with roaring log fires, freshly prepared food, a selection of real ales and a wine menu for you to choose from.
