An excellent example of a village pub. The main room features a large bar with comfortable traditional furnishings, wooden beams and ceiling joists with some exposed stonework. There is a nice restaurant area to one end and a tidy games room to the other. At the back there is a large covered room which acts as a smoking area, a patio area with a grassed garden beyond and a children's play area across the car park. The pub has some rooms available and there is also a small site available for caravans and motor homes. Activities include live music, quiz nights and even a regular farmers' market. Not forgetting the beer, which at time of visit included five west country ales as well as two real ciders. Handy for Porthleven and well worth the short diversion off the main road.

This is a proper village local just off the main road near Helston and the Helston Penzance number 2 bus takes you close to it. There were 7 ales and some ciders available, and we enjoyed the Penzance Brisons, Dartmoor Jail Ale and Tintagel Harbour Special sitting out in the 2 tiered garden at the back. There was a small room off the bar area with a pool table in it. Children and dogs appear welcome. Food served lunch time and evenings and they have live music and quiz nights. Background music was being played and there was a TV switched off while we were there. There were books with a charity box. Outside there was a covered area for smokers with couches and tables and chairs. There was also a Caravan Club 5 van site at the pub.
