Will Larter left this review about The Whitestonecliffe Inn
Quite a pleasant looking whitewashed pub in the centre of the village, whose full name is Sutton under Whitestonecliffe. Though looking at said cliff, I would have called it off-white, in fact almost as dark as a nicotine-stained pub ceiling used to be.
There's a dining room to the left and the bar is through the door to the right from the porch. There are three hand pumps with two from Black Sheep and a rebadged Tetleys Bitter. There is some nice looking old fashioned furniture in a fairly ordinary but nonetheless pleasant room. A small fireplace on the left is centered in a very clumsily built stone surround - I can't imagine it's original or it would surely have collapsed long since; or perhaps it did and has been put back together jig-saw-wise. Studying the fireplace distracted me from the rather annoying background music, but not for long enough. Suitably refreshed, I was back on my bike and heading west, glad that I didn't have to climb Sutton Bank (25% gradient) on this occasion.
