Attractive whitewashed Brakspear pub. As mentioned below by another esteemed local reviewer, the interior is indeed rather neo-rustic (but none the worse for it). Split between drinking and dining, as the normal way round here, with a snug central bar area. Three Marston list ales at the bar – my 64 Deep turned out to have gone the same way its name alluded, bottom of the barrel, but was exchanged with apology by the manager when I trundled back with it (the clip having being turned round in the 2 minutes I was away). My replacement (which I forgot to note) was fine. Not going to knock any socks off feet but solid enough.

Attractive part whitewashed pub in an affluent and attractive village. Mainly aimed at the lunching and dining brigade, but the beer is well kept, if not exactly exciting-from the Marstons stable.Cheery bar staff, and the food was enjoyable on our visit on a Friday lunchtime in October 2016.I'm sure the exterior featured in an episode of Midsomer Murders or Lewis or somesuch hokum.

Previous review sums up entirely. Fine if you are eating, or avoid meal times. Just to add the beer is kept well (Cask Marque listing).

Situated on a tight bend on a country lane, this pub is aimed at the well-heeled (it has the requisite gravelled car park), but has great convivial staff even if the ale selection is slanted towards those former Henley tyros, with Brakspear Bitter, Varsity Pale Ale and Ringwood Razorback. The Varsity was £1.90 for a half which is about right in these parts. Internally, it's all rather neo-rustic: a main bar area is deep enough for some seated and vertical drinking, with dining areas fore and aft, the latter of which had some kind of hessian-style rug on t'floor. There was still plenty of bustling about on ther food front for an early Sunday evening, which means something's being done right here - you could imagine many a country pub closing early doors on a Sunday. Good, but not great, but worth poking your head in if in the area.
