Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Red Herring

A strange pub this. It sits on the edge of a residential area, alongside the rail tracks and a very potholed road, whilst also being in the shadow of an old mill. Parking is at the rear. However, it's not immediately clear whether the car park belongs to the pub, as I parked next to a couple of ambulances which seem to have something to do with the current use of the mill building!

This was another pub where I was the only customer. I arrived to find the barman or possibly landlord having a cigarette outside.

Inside was quite dark, with pillars creating separate drinking areas. One pillar even splits the bar itself into two.

Just the one solitary ale was on. This was Bank Top Pavilion Pale Ale, which was ok, without being overwhelming.

Certainly a strange place, but another one that maybe takes on a different feel at other times and is hard to judge as such.
