Graham Coombs left this review about The Bear

The industrial-type fire doors are a clue that this cute and aged building is not quite what it seems. The interior has been thoroughly ruined - sorry modernised, with a polished wood floor, distressed wood walls and everything else painted in shades of grey, which rather detracts from any atmosphere. It does however have a welcome emphasis on beer, with a large list of Belgian and other foreign bottles complete with tasting notes, draught ales in the form of London Pride and Tribute and Old Rosie for the cidermen (and women). No pub games but there is a large collection of board games in a corner, and outside there are a few tables on the pavement.

Moby Duck left this review about The Ancient Forester

Update : now called The Bear .
original review 21/6/12 Called in briefly today to check on the reversion of name from the Square Bar back to the Ancient Foresters, there is a pub to let sign up outside but it is open. Inside is rather sparse, empty room with white walls , a few tables and chairs and a pool table. Two hand pumps ,one unused the other dispensing Wychwood Hobgoblin which was not to bad.The pub itself needs some serious redecoration inside and some actual direction,at the moment it seems to be in the hands of a holding company and just ticking over until someone takes the lease on.At the moment highlight of the week appears to be karaoke night.
