Vaults currently closed. It has been sold but future as a pub unknown.

The Vaults is now open again with people happily drinking in the small garden.

Still a nice enough pub but the handpump selection seems to have dropped to 4 handpumps and a not very good selection either. Wainwrights, Tetleys Mild, a real cider and something else that was rubbish. It was a disappointment on this visit.

Very much improved. Real ale available and comfortable surroundings.

Just reopened as "The Vaults" again (It's original name, as shown on the left side exterior stained glass window). It is a still square one roomed pub with the bar on the back wall, but well refurbished with new fittings and furniture, and historic photographs of the area.
The six handpumps are presently dispensing beers from Brimstage, Liverpool Organic and Thwaites breweries, but may change.
This Real Ale gain will have plenty of competition as it is next door but one to the 2011 National Pub of the Year, The Bridge End.
I wish it well and give a 7 for their confidence in taking on a closed run-down pub.

This is a one roomed pub with very little character and not much going for it. No Real Ales are served. Not surprisingly, it had the least customers of the towns four pubs and merited only a quick half and leave.

Worst of the four by the station. Have one pint then go to any of the the others.
