A terraced Georgian styled Marston’s pub and eatery, with a frontage in undressed brick.
The interior is an L shape open plan room around the serving bar. The pub is food orientated to be fair, all set out with dining tables. The décor is a mix of undressed brick and stone, with some cream, red, wood panel and support and ceiling beams. We ate here and the food was fine – though my hot pot was very, very hot! They didn’t have my first choice. There is a brick fireplace, a stone ‘hole in the wall’ and copious amounts of old local photos of York and odd ephemera, such as jugs and some ‘cartoons’. The service was fine and the clientele small and mixed. There was general music as background, at a decent level and no TV that I saw.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Jennings Lakeside Stunner, Pedigree, Hobgoblin and Ringwood Old Thumper. The Thumper was fine.
The place is better than functional for both food and beer, but compared to many in York, it is simply a pop in place.

Very popular pub geared towards food, which we really enjoyed at a reasonable cost. Real ales available and Ringwood Boondoggle complimented the fish and chips. It appears as one big room with different seating areas.
