Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about New Talbot

Part-modernised small-town pub with an open rectangular bar. Mix of furniture (some of the annoying high variety) but little to note decor-wise. Food offers advertised. Two Sharp's beers - Doom Bar and Atlantic - plus a decent Enville Ale (£3.25) available from the three handpumps.

UPDATE: just to say i have eaten here and found the food fine

UPDATE: This pub has been taken over recently by the owners of the Colliers Arms and completely refurbished and re-invented. Is is a detached pub, with two small beer patio areas eithe side of the pub, which is in white render, with red paintwork. Formerly the Talbot and before that, the Dog Inn.

The interior has two rooms. The bar is a straight room in grey, cream, red and coffee wood panelled walls, with a white ceiling and moulded cornice. The large brick fireplace is till there, now accompanied by comfy chairs, high stools and a high perimeter seat that leaves you legs dangling and makes you feel like you are on set for a Harry and Lulu sketch. There is a TV, showing snooker at my last visit and there bistro pictures on the walls. The lounge (formerly the bar) has lost the pool and darts. It is in chocolate and coffee colours i think and also has the now ubiquitous arty pictures. They serve Sunday lunches here, but i haven't eaten so can't comment on that. The music is general and at a decent level. The service is friendly and the clientele maturer on the evenings i have been.

Beer; tap stuff, with a decent Highgate MILD, with Spekky Hen and a very good Holden's Golden Glow on handpull.

I am not wild about the decor, but that is my personal taste. This place has become better both in terms of the beer it sells and that it is better suited to my age! I have visited several times since it re-opened

This detached pub, with small beer patio area is yellow in render, with green paintwork and is the former Dog Inn.

The interior is open plan, but does have a lounge and bar area. The bar has pool, darts, some old photos and pictures of horse racing. The bar area here is never used. There is a bay window, which the perimeter seat (ripped) follows and the decor is white and red, with wood floor. The lounge is where most people go. It has been refurbished, in white and beige panel. It has the now ubiquitous arty pictures and a nice brick fire place. The music is kid music and loud and the clientel i saw was mainly young. Service was fine.

Beer; tap stuff, with no MILD, with Bombardier and Courage Directors on handpull, the Directors was fine - two pumps not working.

This place has become a younger venue and the more modern look means i wont pop in much.

I have lived on the Village of Cheslyn Hay for, well all my life. The Talbot is now an up and coming pub! They have Karaoke every Friday which is always a great night, and live bands every saturday ranging from Folk to Rock they use a lot of local bands which is great! The new Lanlady Sandra and Landlord Keith are very welcoming would recommend this as your local any day of the week!!!
