Always very friendly service in here - I pop in whenever I am on Broad Street. It isn't cheap but I like it in here.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Pitcher & Piano

Location is the plus point here, particularly the lower-level Waterside Bar and terrace right by the canal side. Mind you, if you want a real ale, you'll need to order this at the main bar upstairs (i.e. at street level) where there are four handpumps on the bar-back - although only Cocker Hoop was available on this visit. Otherwise, anonymous modern furniture and decor throughout.

Not particularly good. A large trendy kinda place that I'm too old for. There was no real ale on today. Sadly. Though Big Bob C may differ.

2 floored bar overlooking the canal and the back entrance to ICC. Light, airy & modern there are raised tables, outdoor areas and is made for trndy waterside eating & drinking & pulls it off quite well. The small upper terrace over the canal is a nice feature.

3 real ales - Breakspear Bitter, Hobgoblin and Shipyard on my visit - quite drinkable and well kept.

Expensive and more popular for cocktails. Avoid at all costs

I'm not a great fan of the Pitcher & Piano chain but visited here for a work do recently and was pleasantly surprised. It has the usual pretentious P&P atmosphere but a big plus point is the location. It's split on two floors with the upper floor having a balcony overlooking the canal and downstairs having outside decking right on the canal side. Very pleasant on a Summer's evening. One gripe I always have with P&P's is that the beer taps all look the same and you have to look closely to see what is on offer, although I suspect their offering doesn't change much.
