Multi roomed pub well described by the penultimate reviewer.Loads of outside space to the rear with a section for watching sports.Very busy on my Tuesday night visit.Sat in the beer garden where they were doing a roaring trade in barbequed lobster.Bit smelly but wished it was me eating it.Poor keg selection but 4 cask beers.A boring regional, a Greene King house beer and 2 from Tintagel brewery which were in good condition.Wacky L shaped pool table with 7 pockets.Handy for snookering your opponents round the corner.All in all a nice pub.

This opens on Wednesday 11th June as part of the Camden Pubs and Bars chain. At present it will be selling ales from the local Five Points Brewery. I'm guessing it will also open late afternoon on weekdays.

For a pub set in a terrace of shops, this one is surprisingly spaceous, stretching well back to the rear of the building. It dates from 1915 according to the landlady, and although it sustained some bomb damage during WWII, it still has its multi-room format. I went in the left hand door into a room with some standard seating, some on a raised area on the left behind some delightful leaded glazed screening. The servery is on the right with some more leaded glazing decorating the bar gantry, and some original wood screening at the front separates the two rooms at the front of the pub. I didn’t get to see in the right hand room – which can only be reached from an entrance in the street – as it is not used at lunchtime. Above the servery there are masses of stoneware jars and even a couple of massive wooden barrels, and the Lincrusta style ceiling could also be original. Behind the servery there is another large room, currently being used a sports room, containing a dartboard, two table football games, and three pool tables, one being of the L-shaped 7-pocket variety (!!). The exterior is also quite striking, as can be seen from the photographs, with the main feature being a large bas relief depiction of the eponymous progenitors (complete with fig leaf) set in stone high on the wall.
They normally do “pizza’s” (sic) at lunchtime, but unfortunately they weren’t available when I was in on Wednesday lunchtime. There were a couple of ales available – GKIPA and Hobgoblin (the latter £1.85 for a half). A big plus was the trio of newspapers on a ledge that the landlady invited me to make use of, but a minus was the pop music being played that had to compete with the landlady’s radio. Luckily the large screen TV was muted.
This pub still retains a fair bit of its original grandeur. Although it’s by no means perfect, I found this pub’s interior to be interesting and in the main quite attractive. It’s probably the best pub in Homerton (although to be honest that’s not saying much) and OK to stop off for a pint or two.

A large multi-roomed pub, again unfortunately no real ale, not a hand pump to be seen. what a shame, they don't know what they are missing
