Roger Button left this review about Fernandes Brewery Tap

There are a few surprisingly good pubs in Wakefield but Fernades Brewery Tap is definitely the one place not to miss out on if you are serious about ales. Set over 2 floors, they serve a dizzying range of 10 ales including their own brews as well as a good number of premium lagers and foreign beers with an apparent emphasis on those over 7% so bring your drinking boots with you!

The lower floor (labeled the Bierkeller) is quite basic with a straightforward layout, stone floors and wooden pew seating and, as the name suggests, concentrates on the foreign beers although there are a couple of Ales on hand pull.

The top floor contains the Real Ale bar housed under a vaulted roof with a large collection of old pub signs. The non Fernades ales are mainly from local micros (Anglo Dutch and Ossett were both well represented) with Gales Seafarers being the only familiar beer to me. There was a good buzz about the place although I was surprised to find taht on my most recent visit the placed was virtually empty when I would have expected it to have been heaving and the Bierkeller bar which is generally the quieter option, was closed.

It's perhaps not the easiest place to find in town but perserverence should be well rewarded and it is far enough away from the hellish Westgate run to lose the undesirables.

James Joines left this review about Fernandes Brewery Tap

Now an Ossett Brewery Pub with a beer keller where the home brew shop used to be and a real ale bar upstairs. Fine choice of Real Ales (one from East Coast)plus Europes finest.
Some parking on street but Public Car Parks near by (free after 1900).
Occasional live music.
Well worth finding.
