Have visited this one on a couple of occasions in past months as it is nearby to the current abode of no1 son.
It’s a bit tucked away and far enough away from the main centre of Hertford to maintain a back street local vibe and people who frequent here tend to be locals who know the pub.
It’s unchanged from previous reviews and a comfortable friendly back street local that does good pub food is a very apt description for this one.
It is a McMullens pub but what I like about this one is that it usually has a rotating guest ale alongside the two McMullen brews and for my most recent visit Rivertown Brewing Harlequin was on alongside the AK and Country from Mac’s.

A cosy out of town local, comfortably furnished and with a good food trade. Inside is a series of connected areas, with a half-timbered sort of decor. The large and attractive garden at the rear includes bookable 'sheds'. Still a McMullens pub with Solstice and AK on pump at time of visit.

A Mc Mullens tied house with a friendly welcome and a loyal band of regulars. The interior is quite small and carpeted throughout with lounge style furniture and a screen for occasional sports coverage ,but this does not distract from a convivial and welcoming atmosphere.Food is served, sandwiches around £4.50,main meals ranging from £7 to £12 but food doesnt dominate, this is a solid back street local in an affluent area.3 ales on my trip AK,Country and a very decent Cask Ale ,£2.80 and much better kept than at a lot of Macs pubs. This is one of their best outlets.

This is a nice and cosy little pub that has a conservatory built on the back which was accommodating some diners during my visit. There were three ale offerings from McMullens along with some standard draught, but my Guinness wasn't the best.

There is a large plasma screen which was off, but some background music was playing at an unobtrusive volume.

The staff and locals seemed nice enough and I would visit this pub again if in the area - hopefully the below par pint was a one off.

Comfortable friendly and well appointed end of terrace local in a quiet gentrified part of town. Almost a rural feel to the locality. McMullens Cask, AK and seasonal Harvest Moon. Pleasant looking rear garden and a restaurant area to the back of the pub. Decent looking menu included half a lobster for 11.95. Largish plasma showing football scores, decently turned off when the prog finished and the Saturday dross commenced.
