Visited the City Road Inn on a Tuesday evening back in September last year. Available from the bar on the left wall adjacent to the entrance was Sharp’s Doom Bar alongside a standard and premium keg range. Three hand pumps stood unused. This compact pub with traditional décor is in a prime location for passing trade so I imagine the clientele is quite transient. In front of the bar is a small raised area with seating that arcs around a fireplace. Along the front windows are high tables and more seating is found in the right hand side of the pub.
This is a handy stop off if passing but I wouldn’t make a special trip.

Passed by around 4pm yesterday (Tuesday) and the City Road Inn was closed, however it had opened when passing by later gone 7pm. I can't see this being the kind of pub you would make a special visit to, but if you are planning on doing so, just double check the opening times beforehand.

This largish corner pub isn't too bad but it ain't great either. Dizzy Blonde was the only cask available. Its a bit similar to bare floored Irish pubs but without the faux Oirish stuff. However it is a proper pub and with the proliferation of modern day bars its nice to see.

This could be a really good pub, but sadly at the moment it isn't. As you enter there's a pool table on a raised area to the right. The bar is straight ahead. There's an interesting gantry with loads of bits & bobs. There are leather sofa's and some dining style tables and chairs. There's also a dartboard, but it's difficult to see how you could use it without some removal men being involved. There are 3 handpumps on the bar, but only Black Sheep bitter was available. My pint was in decent condition to be fair. The 2 barmaids were much more interested in talking to a couple of regulars rather than serving a stranger though. Spend a few quid on a spruce up, give it a good clean and add an interesting beer or two and it will be streets better.
