Good meeting point for yesterdays football trip. The usual good range of beers available, nice pint of Dark Star Hophead and the excellent all day breakfast for £5.95. Reasonably busy and buzz of chatter at 11:45 yesterday. A good pub providing excellent choice in what is a bit of a difficult location. Not like most "station" pubs. Lots of old railway memorabilia around. You need a code from the bar to get to the toilets though.

As stated before,a great pub for the real ale drinker. It's very unusual for a Fuller's pub to have guest beers and this is a welcome change from that policy. The only thing wrong with this pub is that the staff seem to be very miserable. No welcome. No hello. So come on you lot behind the bar, cheer up a bit.It will make the Hophead taste even better.Footnote:Having said that,I went there a couple of days ago and the staff were really frienly.Perhaps they were having a bad day before. Further footnote: went in there yesterday(16-01-07) and happiness was abound and whats more important the Hophead and Castle Rock's Harvest pale were perfection, if it carries on like this i will happily become an alcholic!!

Originally called The Head of Steam. This was a mecca for real ale drinkers and it was thought that the takeover by Fullers would be bad, but having visited both before and since the change, personally, i can say that Fullers have kept up the good work. They have their own range of real ales plus a good selection of guest ales.
