Large Greene King pub. 3 beers on when I called. I went for one from the recent Platinum Jubilee which was fine. Handy pub for Bank and Monument tube stations.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Monument

Large modern bar with bland corporate furniture and decor, rather mis-marketed by Greene King as a 'traditional pub'. Having said that, it is one of the better pubs in the immediate area. Three of four handpumps working on my latest visit, with the 'house' 3.9% Monument bitter, Abbot and London Glory (£3.90) available (and with the chalk board indicating some more interesting beers coming soon). Also has the new range of GK's bottled craft beers on the shelves.

This was one of the quieter pubs on my travels around the area, but it still took me a while to be served. One ale was off, but Sunchaser, Greene King IPA and Old Speckled Hen were available alongside Peroni and a selection of standard draught.

It's a good sized pub and there were some decent old songs playing, which made a change from the Karaoke that other pubs in the area seemed to be hosting. There are a couple of plasma screens which show Sky Sports, but these were off as there was no sport on.

This place is nothing special, but I would have no problem with popping back in if passing.
