Old Boots left this review about Union Rooms (JD Wetherspoon)

Biggish 'spoons with multiple spaces, the ground floor has two counter faces, one all keg the other with a standard 5+5 topped and tailed by T-bars. Decorated with old facts boards, and the usual silent screens. Nice enough spoons, decent old building and the service on the app was pretty good. Toilets are several floors upstairs.

This one is set in a fine old Pennine stone building that was once a bank. Inside it's a roughly L shaped room with a patio at the rear. The fixtures and fittings are fairly typical. I noticed the food clubs here are cheaper than average as well as the traditional breakfast and coffee.
Although the bar has two sets of five hand pumps the beer choice was a bit limited with the two GK beers and Old Peculier doubled plus two ciders leaving just Goose Eye Chinook & Pommies Revenge. I went for the Pommies Revenge (£1.99) which was in good nick.
Despite the limited beer choice I thought this was overall a decent JDW.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Union Rooms (JD Wetherspoon)

Fine old building, part of which once housed the West Riding Union Bank, partly opened out to leave a high ceilinged main seating area in front of the bar and several smaller spaces to the side and rear. Comfortably furnished throughout. Narrow terrace at the front. Reasonable choice from eight handpumps, including Goose Eye Over & Stout (excellent value at £1.90).

The Union Rooms is a Wetherspoons pub that is housed in a grand looking old building in the middle of Batley.
Once inside the main bar area is square shaped with the bar facing, the seating in this area is mostly tall tables and chairs, there is an oblong shaped area to the right which runs to the rear, this area had normal tables and chairs and is probably popular with diners.
There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar in two banks of five,i had a drink of Phoenix Navvy which went down very well, the only other beers i noted were Naylors Santas Revenge, plus the normal Spoons beers like Doom Bar and Abbot.
This is quite a pleasant Spoons that was very warm on a cold and windy day.
