Update Jan 2023 - Continues to go downhill. The TV screens have become ever more intrusive, with the sound relayed throughout the pub and the added bonus of harsh white lighting. More importantly, the only cask ale available on this visit was the dreaded Doom Bar. Just another Stonegate bar now, and not a particularly good one.

Update Dec 2019 - Still not much change from JDW days apart from insertion of multiple TV screens and the music. The beer range is a little reduced, with just two guests alongside Pride, Abbot and Doom Bar - on this occasion both from Dorking: India Red and the very pleasant Black Noise at £3 (CAMRA 50p vouchers accepted). Also on pump were a couple of Lilley's fruit ciders and perry while craft taps were Hogs Back Hogstar IPA, Goose Midway IPA and Camden Hells.

(Feb 2017)Now sold from Wetherspoons to Stonegate. Very little change apart from the menu and addition of permanent background music. Still retains a good range of beers and quality seems to bearing up ok. For the moment at least it remains a pleasant enough place to enjoy good beer at a reasonable price.

Still spoonsesque but with better service, some decent background music and live footie. Housed in an interesting building, a former cinema there were a few decent beers on from the likes of Titanic, Twickenham, a couple of micros I now forget backing up the more ordinary Abbott and Doom Bar along with a couple of ciders, my Adnam's Ghostship was in good form despite being a tad on the cold side.
Not really my cup of tea but not too bad for this type of pub.

Very gloomy Wetherspoons and in their wisdom the interior designer decided to fill it with dark wood. After groping my way to the bar i ordered the latest international collab beer where they get a good foreign brewer(Brazilian i think this time) bring him over, brew a beer at a dull British brewery and ruin his reputation.

This was a furniture shop in a previous life and before that a cinema. It opened as a Spoons in December 1994.

It's not that large for a cinema conversion and is unsurprisingly quite dark inside. The bar is on the right after you have entered and the usual sort of Spoons furnishings are around. At the end of the building there seemed to be some sort of raised area which I didn't have time to investigate.
It is GBG listed so I was optimistic of finding something interesting to drink, and I wasn't disappointed as the Triple fff Jabberwocky Black IPA (£2.45) was an outstanding pint in superb condition.

The twelve pumps were taken up by the two GK usual suspects doubled up, Ciders from Gwynt Y Ddraig and Weston's (Old Rosie), Wadworth / Chelsea Sunset Red, Adnams / Sixpoint Bengali Tiger, Sambrook's Wandle, Surrey Hills Ranmore Ale, Bingham's Space Hoppy IPA and as mentioned the Jabberwocky. Given the quality of the beer, I was disappointed that I didn't have time to stay for another couple of pints. This was by far the best of the four GBG listed SW London Spoons visited on the day and on this evidence fully deserves the GBG status.

Fairly typical Wetherspoons in converted early cinema. Most reliable food and drink in town centre and never too noisy.
