Will Larter left this review about Aultguish Inn

A roadside inn in the middle of nowhere, with the dam of the Glascarnoch reservoir looming threateningly in the background. There's some good walking to be had around here, and the roads are good for cycling too, I was just unlucky that the cloud was not much above ground level when I was here. I stayed in the bunkhouse accommodation, which has a drying room, a self-catering kitchen and is well presented and reasonably priced; there are hotel rooms too.

On entering there's a restaurant to the left and the bar is to the right, with a further room featuring a pool table. A large stone chimney with solid fuel stove abuts the bar, which has a handful of fonts and a solitary hand pump. Buddy Holly was on the sound system.

The beer was a disappointment: An Teallach Ale that was well past its best, in fact undrinkable. I exchanged it for a bottle of the same ale, which was OK but not really what I'd been hoping for. I wouldn't mind stopping here again if the weather made it necessary. Opening times and days can vary, so if planning a visit it's best to phone or email to check.
