Blue Scrumpy left this review about Saracen's Head

I assume the Saracen's Head was an old coaching inn. Rooms are accessed from a side passage. The front bar was reserved for locals, which seemed to be a temporary measure as a Covid-19 precaution.

For outsiders, there is an outside bar and another indoor room at the rear. The ale selection was seemingly limited to Butty Bach & HPA, with Black Rat cider also available. We availed ourselves of some rolls, which were excellent value at £1 each.

I quite liked this place. But there is scope for improvement in the ale range.

Two bar format, each room accessed via the now covered cobbled side alley which clearly once led to stables behind the pub. This side area now has evidently popular semi-outdoor tables, I preferred to head inside where the front room has the bar, quiet music, part boarded and part carpeted, ceiling beams, some with dangling pewter tankards. Traditional seating in here, copper kettles and brass plates, framed prints of birdcages and racehorses. There is a dartboard and Tv in here, the clientele were lively and loud but in no way threatening.
I looked in the back room briefly, no drinkers in, just a small child on a scooter zooming about so best left I thought.
Holden's Golden Glow, Hobson's Twisted Spire and Doom Bar in the main room, my brief foray in the back revealed more pumps, GK St Edmunds Ale, a Thatcher's cider and a perry so well worth enquiring before choosing.

Quinno _ left this review about Saracens Head

A two room old-school boozer straight out of the mid-70s. Basic public bar at the front with darts and banquette seating, cream and red colour scheme with some timberwork going on. The rear room(s) are more lounge-like in style, accessed via the side patio (football shown here, apparently). Bit confusing on the ale range, looked like there were three ales when I entered the public bar (Doom Bar, Butcombe, Hobsons Twisted Spire though on exploring the rear I came across a couple of others including one from Worcester which I’d have gone for had I known (or perhaps more pertinently, been told). A proper cider and perry (from Black Rat) were also in residence here too. Anyway my Hobsons was cheap, tasty and served in a rather fetching branded glass. Rolls spotted behind the bar which always gets a vote from me. Worth stopping off for and given its proximity to the Dragon and Foregate St BR, I’d be quite tempted to drop in here again.

A decent pub this one and well worth a visit. I received a good friendly welcome from the barmaid, when I got to the front bar. There was a choice of five ales, a cider and a perry. I went for the Hobsons Twisted Spire, which was served in a Hobsons glass, plus the beer was in top condition.
The front bar was traditional, with an open fire, dark timber work and the walls painted cream and red.
The rear lounge was also traditional with exposed ceiling beams, which had some brasses along them. There was a traditional stove and the bar area was slightly larger.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Saracens Head

Having walked past it the previous day thinking the place looked a bit run down, but then having been advised that it actually had a reasonable selection of real ale on offer, I took the opportunity of a brief stopover between trains at the nearby Foregate Street station to pop in quickly. The small front bar was absolutely rammed by I could just make out three handpumps on the counter. The larger rear bar, with another little seating area beyond, was thankfully rather quieter and had another five handpumps (four of which were operational). Further patio seating is also available in the covered side alleyway that also forms the link between the bars and the route to the gents. Old-fashioned furniture and decor, but tidy enough. My pint of Slater's Bitter was in good form, and all-in-all I was glad I made the effort to visit.

Soup Dragon left this review about Saracens Head

An end terraced Gerogian pub accessed via a former coach passage that now houses a patio area. The building has three storeys and a hipped roof. It is in a mix of plain and white painted brick, with three large sash windows and a dog-tooth cornice.

The interior has a couple of rooms served by a small centre bar. The bar room is at the front and is in red wood panel and cream, with a white and beam ceiling and a nix of carpet and wood floor. There are a couple of small fireplaces and a dart board. Brasses, old photos and mirrors are on the walls for interest. The lounge is at the back, it is in cream and has a carpet - i couldnt see much of it. There is a TV, which had sport on and the background music was general, at a soft level. The service was friendly and there were several mature locals in.

Beer; usual tap stuff with Spekky Hen, Greene King St Edmunds and a fair Doombar on handpull

A proper little pub. Three real ales, although perhaps not the most adventurous choice. Definitely one i would pop back to for a pint.

Old Boots left this review about Saracens Head

A favourite of mine in Worcester, almost opposite the Dragon and making a refreshing contrast to that pub’s rather earnest “real aleness”. Down to earth corner pub with a number of rooms ranged down the side alley. A happy local with unpretentious customers and decently kept if unexciting beers (Pedigree, OSH etc) People enjoy drinking in this pub.

ROB Camra left this review about Saracens Head

Locals pub with 2 rooms. The front room is mainly a tap room and the rear room is a lounge. There’s a large courtyard along the side of the pub with a big screen showing sport, very unusual. The lounge has fruit and quiz machines and is very comfortable. The only food available is paninis that are sold all day until 9 p.m. and at £2.55 these look a bit of a bargain. 7 handpumps on the bar but only 5 on, Old Speckled Hen, Pedigree, GK St Edmunds a real cider and a changing guest. The St Edmunds was a decent pint for a GK offering and was well kept. The staff were friendly as were the locals although some were a bit on the boisterous side. It’s definitely one of the better pubs in Worcester.
