A revisit to this mimsy Fuller's pub at the request of my fellow crawlee. Three cask on the sticks; Pride, Olivers and a below-par HSB (NBSS 2.5) served in a contaminated glass. You'd think that after the events of a few years ago there'd be a bit more careful regarding cleanliness in Salisbury.

April 2018
A vanilla Fullers outlet overlooking the rather nice market square. Looks like three buildings knocked into one from the outside, quite higgledy-piggledy. A relatively sterile interior, full of middle-aged people and it was pretty busy – standing room only at the bar (which got us some looks and also meant I couldn’t explore fully). There’s also outdoor seating overlooking the market square, which is the premium place to sit. Six pumps with four on; Pride, Oliver's Island, HSB and Spring Sprinter (fair). Rather like the pub next door, it’s designed to be somewhere for people who don’t really like ‘proper’ pubs, though this one at least felt like it had a slightly more pubby feel (perhaps just the split level interior?) and subsequently more drinkers enjoying themselves than the Market. Beware Fullers ambitious prices, mind. Rated 6.5

Busy Fullers pub with a good range of their beers. Chose Fullers Botanist Batch which was very good, and enjoyed it sad outside in the market square. Staff very helpful explaining the beer when serving it.

Well worth a visit to this 16th Century building that is full of character. The interior was tastefully finished and comfortable and I especially liked the untreated exposed oak beams. There was plenty of seating areas and the clientele was respectable. We sat at the bar and pondered over the choice of five handpumps, I settled on a London Pride, which was a hefty £4.20 a pint.

A Fullers pub and a total different beast to the pub visited before this, The Haunch Of Venison, I prefer the former, this place i found to be a little to spic and span and a rather corporate air about the place ,the beer of choice though was fine ,not being a Fullers fan I went for the guest beer Stonehenge Spire. This is one I would probably not bother with again on my next visit.

What looks to have once been two separate buildings, the pub now runs through from narrow Butchers Row to the large paved market square behind, entry being possible from either end. Inside, there is the feel of three areas although the pub is knocked through, the bar is fairly central if more to the narrow street end, upstairs is a restaurant which remains unseen by me. The interior is split level, wooden ceiling beams and posts, some look original, others perhaps not, pint jugs hang from the ceiling beams. A large clearly old stone fireplace has etched graffiti on the mantle, flooring is part wooden, part flagged with the odd bit of heavy duty carpet here and there. The side room has panelled walls, a nice Fuller's mirror, a polished possibly walnut cabinet with flowers in a vase and framed maps on the walls. High shelves contain a collection of whisky boxes and branded water jugs.
This is a Fullers house so there were Pride, ESB, Seafarers and Summer Ale but also a guest from Stonehenge, Spire Ale. Food served, pies are claimed to be home made. Outdoor seating available at both ends of the pub.
I liked it in here, the customers were a mixed bunch from local tradesmen to shoppers to tourists but everyone seemed to rub along together and the service was on the ball.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Ox Row Inn

A fine listed inn, comprising two distinctly different buildings that span the gap between the marketplace and the eponymous pedestrianised street behind, with attractive facades at both ends. Partly opened out inside, and thoroughly refurbished by Fullers in a semi-traditional style. Convivial atmosphere. Six beers on handpump: Pride Seafarers, ESB, HSB and Jack Frost plus Stonehenge Spire (£3.80) as a guest. Really rather good.

Now owned by Fuller's of Chiswick, the pub has had a refurb and is now a good addition to the city centre pub scene. A full range of well-kept Fuller's beers (inc Gales HSB) and Stonehenge Spire as a guest), gives a good line up to grace any bar. Whilst good, the food doesn't quite make it to the usual standard found in Fuller's pubs in London. Hopefully, with comments from customers, this will improve.

A 16th Century market inn with a single large but slightly roaming bar, loosely divided into three areas by virtue of its split level floor. It has doors from the market place and from Butcher Row, behind, and is a long-standing traders' inn. During Summer months, there are seats outside on the Market Square. There are exposed timbers throughout, though some of these are fake, and the floors are wooden. There is wood paneling on the walls, while most of the windows are stained glass or etched. There is a basic bar snacks menu, but service is incredibly slow and food is usually cold when it arrives. The staff are a bit precious - the barman, whose accent suggests he is not from within 1500 miles of Wiltshire, had a tantrum when I asked for a minor mistake to be corrected (but he did it anyway). Prices are too high for the area and appear to be aimed at the tourists rather than the locals. There is a gaming machine which, although silent, was annoyingly out of place. Three ales on, I had a pint of Everards Tiger which was in very good condition, at the right temperature and was most enjoyable. It's worth a pint on a crawl, but it's not the best choice in this area for an evening's drinking or a meal.
