Some change since last time, the lounge is much as before with six pulls, the public more down market, a little more down at heel and with no pulls either. A poor choice of poorly kept beer, Dizzy Blonde or Landlord. Sadly the Ticket Office opposite had chosen not to open so I waited amongst customers who bore more than a passing resemblance to Viz characters, both here and next door in the Station.

The Midland is one of two pubs opposite Ilkley train station.
Once inside this pub still has two separate rooms,i had a drink in the lounge which is to the left, this is a comfortable room which is carpeted and has comfy bench seating with chairs, there was a TV to the rear.
The separate bar room to the left is smaller and oblong shaped, there is a pool table in this room to the rear.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Hawkshead Bitter which went down well, the other beer was John Smiths Cask.
I though this was a pleasant enough pub to have a couple of drinks in.

Largely unspoilt Victorian pub opposite the rail and bus stations with a traditional two bar layout, the railway here belonged to the Midland Railway Company. The entrance vestibule with 1890s stained glass offers a choice of lounge or bar, although the lounge is only slightly more opulent than the bar neither are gin palaces. Both are traditionally furnished with wooden tables, chairs and bench seating, the lounge has a nice tiled counter. The lounge has a choice of three handpulled beers from Ilkley, John Smiths and Thwaites, a little cold but fine although £3.05 for Ilkley Mary Jane (3.5%) is a little steep. The public bar offers pool while both bars have large projection screens. Not a bad place to wait for a bus or train.
