Old Boots left this review about The Great Northern

Stone built pub beside the main road to Shipley from Leeds and almost next door to the Black Rat. A former pubco pub it’s been rescued and ruthlessly modernised, the owning company also runs the Market Square Tavern in Bingley and the similarities are apparent. Laminate floors, tile work, exposed brick and stone with ancient and modern furniture. Mostly one room there’s a “darts room” off to one side and a games room upstairs, a former fireplace and chimney in the main room supports a screen showing sport. The counter is to your right on entering, six hand pulls, four with beers from the associated Horsforth brewery and Taylors Landlord. Ten keg taps grace the back wall with details above on a blackboard. There’s a bit labelled “pizza kitchen” to the right of the servery, other snacks were noted on the menu. Beer was fine served by a fairly haughty barmaid.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Great Northern

The Great Northern is situated on the busy Leeds road.
Once inside the pub has two separate rooms, the main room to the front is square shaped, there is a mix of seating types in this room, all taken, there is also a smaller square shaped room to the rear right, the seating here is bench type and small stools.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Tetley Cask, this went down well.
There were TVs showing the Man Utd v Liverpool game.
The pub was packed on my late Saturday afternoon visit with a mix of age groups, all drinking.
This was a decent enough pub to end my Bradford crawl on.
