Closed for many years but now reopened mostly as a restaurant but casual drinkers are welcome, most tables are laid but the areas near the counter are used for drinking. High seating prevails in front of the counter but to the left has more reasonable level seating and there’s an outdoor riverside drinking and seating area called the Cobbles. Grade II listed with exposed stone and non structural beams it sits in the older prettier bit of Bingley. Two small triple T-bars of prosaic kegs and a single Moretti font plus a pair of pulls with acceptable Ilkley Mary Jane and Adnams bitter.

Visited at lunch time today. Four hamd pumps at the bar offering Spot Ligt by Old Spot, Leeds Pale and TT Boltmaker. One pump was unclipped. The pub is mainly set up for dining with fancy arrangements of glassware on most of the tables. There is a small seating area in front of the bar with a few tables and chairs welcoming those just wanting a drink.

There is a cobbled beer garden / courtyard to the rear which backs on to the river. It is not a huge space but they have made the most of it with a dozen or so picnic benches plus five smaller tables with banquette seating on one side and chairs to the other. I also noticed a further half dozen or so picnic benches round the corner in a narrow strip alongside the river. My only complaint would be that the beer garden is a bit noisy due to the extractor from the kitchen. The flowers are lovely and the space is obviously well maintained.

Service was polite as is typical of gastro pub type places. The pub was pretty empty. I wonder if it is too formal for lunch time trade and perhaps does better of an evening.

Kudos for having a very local beer on cask. My Spot Light was £1.85 for a half and rather pleasant.

Now back to being The Old White Horse

14/09/2014
Now reopen as El Caballo Blanco @ The Old White Horse Inn. It does still sell real ale and has a lounge/bar area although it's more of a restaurant now.
