The Globe is a Brakspear pub with two separate bars. The front bar houses a pool table and a plasma screen that was showing Gillette Soccer Saturday via Sky Sports when I visited last Saturday afternoon. The bar supports two hand pumps, but one was unused and the Brakspear Bitter was off. This left Peroni alongside a standard draught selection so I plumped for a generic lager. After walking through to the larger back bar I discovered three more hand pumps, one of which was operational and drawing Ringwood Best. There is a dartboard and another plasma screen that was also showing Gillette Soccer Saturday. I also spotted an advertisement for live music that was due to take place the following Saturday (today).
This is a local’s pub and the ten or so that were in during my visit seemed harmless enough. I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink here again, but I’d have no problem popping in for a pint if passing.
