A first ever visit here and I wasn't disappointed, a trad old school pub with 12 handpumps, the Branscome Golden Fiddle was ok if not memorable but plenty of choice to be had.

A previous visit to the Jewellers Arms several years ago filed this as one not to bother with, but that’s now not the case after Black Country Ales took it over in 2017 and refurbished the place. They have done a very good job and it is now an excellent ale house in a traditional street corner pub as mentioned below. I went for the house mild , the Pig on the Wall and very good it was too, especially as it was a London wallet pleasing £3.75 a pint.

Carpeted, traditional furniture, floral wallpaper, Victorian-style lighting and banquette seating. All this and a total of 12 pumps, I went for the Weller Weal which was good, price forgotten.

A nicely-restored corner pub in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter with a strong local following, no doubt aided by the excellent range of beers from the 14 pumps. My Lords Bandon Car Porter was in excellent condition. Most of the activity takes place round the bar, while a side area contains a dartboard and there is some pavement seating at the front and a patio area behind for outdoor drinkers.

A terrific ale house in an authentic street corner pub.The interior winds around the bar with traditional furniture and some pleasing features. There is a side room, and the pub was buzzing at 3pm on a Friday.
There is a tv screen advertising 10 real ales and two real ciders.Throughput is rapid and ales were coming off and on at speed but there will always be 3 regulars from Black Country Ales who own the pub.Among the 7 guests on my trip were Lenton Lane Roll With It,Branscombe Vale Golden Fiddle (NBSS 3.5) and Branoc,Lords Brewing Brandon Car Porter,Oakham Citra,Weal Ales Weller Weal and Banks's Amber (possibly another permanent).
The Jewellery Quarter is hip and trendy with lots of craft beer bars but this pub has retained it's character and tradition and would be my pub of choice in the area.I will most certainly return, for a much longer stay next time. One of the best Black Country Ales houses I have visited.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Jewellers Arms

Completely different to my last visit some seven years ago, this place has been 'updated' (in a very traditional way) by Black Country Ales. The various seating areas and side rooms around the central servery have all been sensitively refurbished, as you would expect from this local brewery. Given the ongoing circumstances, I found an excellent selection of eight real ales and a couple of ciders from a total of 14 handpumps, and I went for the guest Weller Weal (£4.50, but in great shape).

The Jewellery Quarter/Hockley area is really developing a great selection of pubs and bars. This Black Country Ales pub is another place that is worth a visit.

Much more of a traditional pub than many of the places in the area, it has a good selection of real ales and ciders in a pleasant drinking environment.

Black Country Ales Bradley's Finest Golden & Fireside are both regular ales. Their Chain Ale was also on. Guests were Banks's Bitter, Oakham Citra, Beartown Crème Brulee & Salopian Golden Thread & Darwin's Origin. Ciders were Lilley's Crazy Goat, Weston's Rosie's Pig Rhubarb.

We were lucky to grab a table for 2 indoors. Larger groups were filling an overspill area outdoors overlooking a roundabout.

With plenty of staff, service was quick. You could easily spend an entire day pub crawling in the area.

Nicely refurbished by the people at Black Country Ales with 10 ales on the bar - 3 of their own. Cider as well, if you like that sort of thing. A good buzz in the pub on our visit (including West Brom fans in pre-match) and the pints we had were in good nick.

Recommended if you're visiting this part of town.

Revisit: Now part of the Black Country Ales chain, opened up into one room following the bar round. Comfortable and still in a traditional style with BCA's standard fittings. Good choice of real ale.

17/10/2010: 2 roomed small local in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter. Its still very traditional, usual pub carpets, tables etc.

I was hoping for good things with the advertisement for Hobsons bitter on the door, but they only had one real ale - an average Hobgoblin.

A very friendly, nice pub - improve the beer and for me this would be great.

What a find this one was today while wandering around Hockley. It is a recently refurbed bar by Black Country Ales and like the others in the chain it has 3 of their own beers and a selection of 7 other ales from a variety of breweries. I was spoiled for choice but enjoyed my Salcombe Seahorse beer.
