Will Larter left this review about Prince of Wales

A back street local just off the shopping streets in the centre of Rugby. Another Craft Union pub, but very different from the Bull a few yards away. (If I had been led into this pub without seeing the signage, and the Bull ditto, I could have guessed this was a Craft Union, but probably not the Bull.) I went for the Landlord, which was the cheapest I've had this year by a long way, just £1.40 for a half (Wow!); and also among the best (18 Landlords scored this year, and this was only the fourth to get NBSS 4).

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Prince of Wales

Traditional two-bar pub, with a dark wood-panelled lounge at the front and a larger but lighter public bar and pool room further back. Now a Craft Union boozer, I found Doom Bar and Landlord (£1.40, half) from the pair of handpumps on the rear counter on this first revisit for seven years.

A 2 roomed pub down a back street of the town centre. As noted it has a plain looking exterior and inside is fairly traditional. One of the rooms houses a pool table. The servery is split into two with a handpump on each side. Doom Bore was on one pump and Pedigree on the other.

The Prince of Wales is a typical town centre local's pub, located in the Rugby's retail district. The pub has a two room layout, with a reasonably smart, if somewhat dated, front room, which is carpeted and has long banquettes and a lot of standard and low stool seating. A TV screen was showing horse racing, which seemed to be appreciated by a fair few punters, whilst the walls were decorated with all sorts of photo montages and a few bits of boxing memorabilia, although I couldn't figure out what link the pub might have to the sport. The servery is located on the rear wall, but there was no ale on, so we made our way into the rear room where a second bar, replete with a single hand pump, could be found. The room has a partly carpeted floor, with linoleum around the pool table which dominates the centre of the room. Standard and low stool seating flanks the pool table down both sides and there was a large TV screen above the rear door leading out to a decent looking walled garden. There was a dartboard and second TV screen over on the right hand wall, with a good collection of trophies nearby suggesting the presence of various pub teams. A juke box rounded out the entertainment options.
The solitary hand pump was dispensing Marstons Pedigree - a fairly uninspired choice but I have to say it was in very good shape and I enjoyed my swift half. There were quite a few locals in during our visit and they seemed like a reasonably friendly bunch.
I liked the two bar layout in this place and thought it had a bit more character than your average town centre local's pub. The beer range may not be inspiring but credit is due for having at least one ale on and for keeping it in good nick.

The Prince of Wales is situated in the middle of Rugby,it faces a supermarket car park.
I thought this pub looked a bit strange from the outside due to the lack of windows on its front facing.
Once inside the pub has two seperate rooms,i had a drink in the larger bar to the right, this room was oblong shaped and carpeted, the seating was mainly normal tables and chairs, there was a pool table and TV showing cricket to the right plus a dart board and TV to the rear.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Pedigree, this was a decent enough drink.
There is a seperate smarter lounge to the left, this room is smaller and had bench seating.
The pub was fairly busy on my mid Saturday afternoon visit.

Tall narrow building that seems to be a survivor as I assume others have since been demolished around it as it does rather stand out. Enter through a lobby and inside is a basic boozer, untouched since the late 1970s. Two rooms with a lounge to left (worn carpet, wall to ceiling wood panelling) hosting horse racing on a TV. Astrorurf and paved rear patio with a bit of flora. One ale, Marstons Pedigree (decent). Pool, darts and plenty of trophies. Not one to make an effort for unless you fancy your hand at taking on the locals at pub sports.

Hidden away down a narrow service alley behind the main shopping street, the PoW is quite basic but does retain a two section layout, the front lounge the more comfortable spot while the larger public bar has a pool table. There is a decent sized courtyard outside.A bit of a regulars pub,the two real ales on offer on my trip were Marstons Pedigree (fair condition) and the ubiquitous Doom Bar.Not really a destination pub,a quick visit on a crawl seemed about right.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Prince Of Wales

This is a large well run pub, which is a predominently used by its locals. The clientele were mixed and friendly and the manageress was friendly and chatty. The pub consisted of a front lounge with bar counter and a massive rear lounge with the main bar servery and pool table. The pub is slightly dated, but still holds a certain charm. Only one ale, Marston's Pedigree.
