Well described by Blackthorn, below, this roadside inn is still owned by Marstons and continues to offer B&B. There is a large car park, it’s comfortable and the gas fire in the large chimney breast is very welcome in the Winter. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere was restful. The only ale on was Hobgoblin which was in poor condition. OK to stop for a break or an overnighter, especially given its proximity to the airport, but its beer quality rules it out for a evening’s libation.

Large prominent pub on the busy A38. Part flag stoned floor, but mostly carpeted. Old stone walls and plenty of paraphernalia such as copper pans hanging about the place. The food offering is fairly prominent with cruets and menus on all the tables, but at least that's it, they're not all laid up with cutlery and place mats like some “pubs”. In spite of having many of the ingredients, it doesn't quite manage to pull off the traditional country pub feel. Maybe it's too large, or maybe it's the whitewashed ceiling with the recessed down lighters. Nonetheless, it's not a bad place.
There's a separate, largish restaurant area at the back, with, as others have said, great views from the decking. Food menu was extensive and reasonably priced.
It's a Marston's pub, so the beers were just their Pedigree and Ringwood Best. Also Blackthorn cider.
