A good old fashioned back-street boozer, very much a local. It's a Georgian town building, and there is a small car park at the side. Inside, there is a main carpeted bar at the front and a smaller game room at the side with pool, darts and a gaming machine. There is a 1960s gas fire heating the bars, visible ceiling timbers, selection of horse brasses, and as the name suggests it did have a cottage feel to it, even having an energetic pub cat to entertain customers. There were two friendly but no-nonsense local in both quite chatty, and a mature barmaid who handled the regulars' banter well, rather like the barmaid in 'Jesus and Mo'. There was one dry pump, plus 3 others dispensing three ale from Dartmoor - Dartmoor IPA, Jail Ale and Legend, all in very good condition. Also available were Guinness, Dartmoor IPA (keg version), Staropramen, Blackthorn cider and Carlsberg. If you want to go cottaging in Wellington, this is the place.
