E TA left this review about The Golden Ball

A large traditional town pub with High Street frontage and an entrance at the back by the church. The downstairs rooms have been conjoined to form a spacious open-plan bar with a slightly lower area at the rear. The latter contains a dartboard and TV screen, which was switched off. There is a jukebox, which was too loud to permit normal conversation, and there is a gaming machine for those so inclined. Upstairs is a separate bar which also hosts live music and other entertainment. There was one ale on draft, Hobgoblin, which was in moderate condition. The pub was noisy, busy with a strong local feel, but not terribly welcoming of outsiders.
