Fairly straightforward locals mid-terrace pub which has no front door – you need to go up a side alley. The main bar is an L shape with a larger rear lounge room and a number of red velveteen banquettes. No particular stand-out features, there’s a dart board and the big screens will be showing the sport as and when. Friendly guvnor and locals in situ. Two ales on, Wye Valley Butty and HPA, a half of the former was fair. As mentioned elsewhere, the bus to Oakengates and its Golden Triangle goes directly opposite, which we utilized! And despite the pub’s name, there’s no railway nearby… (visited June)

This pub had a quite spacious interior, which was a bit of a surprise. The décor was in need of a make over as it was fairly drab and wouldn't inspire you to stay for long, I have to say the pub is very handy for a quick half whilst waiting for the bus. The landlord and a couple of locals were friendly and chatty and the Wye Valley Butty Bach was decent.

An old school boozer with a basic interior,to one side a raised darts throw, with another board in a back section and a mix of old wooden furniture and some flatscreens ,off during my visit.A few regulars were dotted about on bar stools, there was a friendly welcome from behind the bar, where 4 handpumps are situated ,only two in use offering Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach (decent).
Worth popping into on a crawl ,over the road for the bus to Oakengates and it's Golden Triangle.

Taking a hint from Aqualung (see below) we all piled in here on our way from the Cock to the bus stop across the road. The landlord seemed pleased to see us, and was a friendly and welcoming host. His explanation for the name of the pub was that it was maybe used as a navvies hostel during construction of the line, and the name was subsequently applied as a sort of thank you or memorial. He freely admitted there was no available evidence to support this theory.

Two real ales were available at the time of our visit: Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach. I think we all went for the latter, which was in excellent condition, and I enjoyed it even though it's not a beer to my taste (but then neither is HPA). Definitely worth a visit if your bus hasn't turned up yet.

Despite the name there is no railway line here, but maybe the Wellington to Craven Arms line once passed close. The sign outside looks like it is a transposed photograph of the Heritage Severn Valley Railway.
It appears to be two terraced houses knocked into one, you enter it via a small alleyway on the right. Inside it is open plan with the bar at the far side of the room and a darts area to the right of it. There is another area with seating to the right that seems to be a refuge from the TV screens and Jukebox in the main part. Three beers were available Wye Valley HPA & Butty Bach plus Six Bells 'Ow Do. I went for the HPA, a beer I'd not tried for years but was in great nick served in a Wye Valley glass. My only reservation with this pub is the TV screens which were showing Sky Sports despite the fact there was nobody in to watch it. Apart from that the bus from near the Station stops on the opposite side of the road from the pub so it would be daft not to include it with the Cock Hotel round the corner.

Oggwyn Great left this review about Railway Inn

After a period of uncertainty the Railway has not been converted into flats but has been completley refurbished and what a difference it has made , the entrance is still up the side alley , the pub has been opened up the two dark dissmal rooms are now gone along with the central bar , as you enter a new half moon bar is on the far side , the pub is now open plan the back part is slightly raised and has a dartboard , there are a couple of TVs scattered around but are not obtrusive .
The pub is now a freehouse so along with the usual keg taps there are four handpulls , Wye Valley HPA and Butty Bach are the permanent ales with one rotating ale from Stonehouse and a changing guest ale which was Cambrian Gold on my visit , beer quality was exellent .
Locals were friendly as was the chatty barman .
Considering what an unfriendly dump this used to be i can not believe the change , a friendly pub selling decent beer , gets my vote

This pub doesn't look very welcoming from the outside as it often has the curtains drawn. To be honest it's not a lot better on the inside. There's a large room at the front and a smaller one to the rear, both have a dartboard. In the front room there's also a pool table and a huge screen TV. They must be good at pub games as there are loads of trophies on the ledges. There are 2 handpumps on the bar but both look unused. Last night they didn't have any Becks or Stella either. This left a choice of Carling or Worthies smooth. Oh great. There were more people outside having a fag than there were in the pub and most sentences seem to involve the word f**k. It's pretty poor really and I certainly won't be calling in again. Having said that, it's by no means the worst pub in Wellington, which is a scary thought.
