Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Station Hotel

A smaller-than-it-initially-looks pub, partly explained by the place also operating as a hotel again since being thoroughly refurbished before reopening a couple of years ago. Not much room for seating in the compact bar area, and the dark blue paint scheme is almost oppressive. However, it offers a good selection of keg and key-keg draught beers, Salopian Oracle (£3.50) on cask and a big range of fancy gins.

A rather dark-painted bar with something of a nightclub feel, situated opposite the station as the name suggests. It seems a lot smaller than it appears from outside, with a large side passageway feeling as though it ought to lead somewhere other than the toilets. Lots of gin and cocktails, with a fair selection of crafty stuff on keg, and just Salopian Oracle on handpump. Not actively unpleasant but generally seems lacking.

Old Boots left this review about The Station Hotel

Craft beer bar opposite the station, the counter is buried away at the back. Three triple tap units and a single pull serve a range of crafty stuff although the hand pump had a more prosaic Salopian Oracle. I had an expensive (£2.80) half of Northern Monk Stout. Usual grey paint job but high bench seating covered in suede at nicely finished wood tables with high stools on the outside, a few normal sized tables and chairs inhabite the outer edges. Copious amounts of spirits sit on the bar back.

Aqualung . left this review about Station Hotel

I got here early on a Saturday afternoon when it had a fair crowd in, many of whom were soon trekking off to the football ground. The general mix of customers was quite varied. It seems to be a rambling place and I got the impression I only saw a small part of it. The small front room that overlooks the station forecourt leads through to a smallish central bar. I did notice a door marked "Smoking Room" on the way to the Gents but I didn't check it out.
The bar has only one cask ale namely Salopian Oracle (£3.50) which was in excellent condition. I then noticed a laminated sheet advertising a January Sale of some tinned "craft" beers. I tried a Beavertown Humuloid Double IPA (£4.05 reduced from £5.40) then went for the "Buy One Get One Free" Tiny Rebel Captain Insano which was £6.10 for two 330ml tins (£5.25 a pint). I thought this was quite reasonable for a 10% abv beer that was also excellent and prevented me from moving on to another pub. It's worth a look but for me the single cask is a bit of a drawback.

Alan Hurdle left this review about Station Hotel

I arrived Saturday evening at 5pm. The place was very full. I was easily the oldest person in the place. I could only see plenty of chrome keg? Taps. I had not done my homework. I asked for half of blond ale. Luckily I was served from the only handpump between eight keg? taps. It was very good. I think it was a Salopian but it was too full to check (the pub, not the glass!). I had no idea if any of the other beers were keg, key/Keg or key/cask. This is the problem with "craft" beers on tap where it is hard to tell which are Real Ale, especially in an over crowded noisy pub.
EDIT: (next day - memo, don't review on trains on the way home!) This pub has been transformed into a young persons nightspot. The walls are painted dark blue and there are tall table seating areas. I would like to return at a much quieter time to be able really see the place. I don't think it will be my type of pub but it really knows how to attract the punters.

EDIT: Reopened October 2017.

Under renovation and due to reopen. A big poster on the building confirms this.
A local person has informed me that it has been taken over by the owners of the nearby Vaults pub, mainly for the extra accommodation rooms but as a pub as well.

Oggwyn Great left this review about The Station Hotel

Situated directly opposite the main entrance to Shrewsbury Station this is the second pub in this area of town to carry the name .
First recorded as an Inn in 1828 and originally an Hotel and Posting House called the Grapes it retained the name untill 1939 when the original Station Hotel was demolished and the name was transfered across .
Formerly this was a basic working mans boozer with many customers , workers from the nearby railway and post office sorting centre and strangley the chosen haunt of 70s Rock star Ian Hunter when visiting his home town .
Nowadays the Station is a Boutique Hotel with ten luxury rooms and a small public bar , the only remains of the old boozer is the old corridor entrance on the right of the pub , the first door takes you to a small lounge area with cream and red leather seats this then leads around to the small bar area , another door here takes you back into the corridor which is lined with mirrors .
The pub is a lot smaller than it used to be as the back end has been converted into a fast food takeaway .
A wide selection of malt whiskies are available and cocktails feature heavily , no cask ales available only couple of expensive keg lagers Estrella(£4 a pint!!), Budweiser and Stowford Press for cider drinkers .
Very quiet on my Saturday evening visit but very friendly service , its OK but not really my sort of place
