Another GK charge about a half mile from West Hagbourne's Horse & Harrow, this also has the old green and gold GK livery and has a lean to the food side despite a clutch of locals surrounding the larger of the two bars on my Sunday arvo visit. This is an oldish roadside building which still has exposed wood and a bare-boarded floor and looks to have resisted a Meet & Eat / Hungry Horse reinvention. Dining in a room to the left on entry, with a decent bar area in the room to the right with four further dining tables up a couple of steps to the far right. Ales limited to Sharp's Doom Bar, Abbot Ale and Morland Original - the half of the latter surprisingly punchy and well-kept for £1.85. I've been in a lot worse pubs, and a pierced and tattooed barmaid was the model of politeness, so straight down the middle for this one.
