Alan Winfield left this review about The Loft

When i went in this pub it was called the Criterion Inn and the pub was originally a Shipstones tied house but i never went in it under their ownership.
The pub has had a few different names over the years.
Once inside there was one longish narrow room with the bar on the right there was also a small raised area to the rear which had a large table,on my only visit to this pub there were some gangster type people playing cards on the raised area giving the pub a very seedy feel which i dont like that much.
There were no real ales on the bar with keg Manns bitter being a very poor drink.
The pub is now called the Loft and does live music.
I have rated this pub on my visit when it was the Criterion.
