An interesting-looking old pub located in a in pretty village which gets rather overwhelmed with tourists but is fighting back with intrusive parking restrictions. Outside there is a nice planted patio area and some tables occupying most of what was once a car park. Moving inside, a few decades ago the interior would have passed for modern, but it now looks dated. I suppose it is best described as 'ranch' style, with sweeping areas of stone and wood. A large back room acts as the restaurant, but most of the pub is given over to the food trade, as well as supplying takeaways to those who can't fit in. It did however offer Farne Island, Cheviot Black Hag and Anarchy St Mary's on pump, albeit at premium price.

Advertises itself as a gastropub that also offers take away fish and chips. Guess we are appealing to all diners.
Large open plan, all setup for dining. Granite floor, posh lighting.
What sets it apart is the service - lovely staff doing a super job of waiting to tables.
Beer was First and Last Brewery - The Best Bitter in fine condition. Cask Marque accredited.
Does Belgian bottles, including Kwak, where the prize for the ceremonial glass is a shoe deposit. Authentic!

On approach, I was excepting this pub to have a traditional interior, no such luck. The inside was open plan, with the bar facing you as you enter, which had a black granite counter, more like a domestic kitchen. There was a row of Chintz tassel lamp shades hanging above the front counter. The walls were clad with large pieces of pine timber, fixed horizontally. The plus side was there were four ales on handpump and to my delight, they had on Anarchy Brewery St Marys Ale. Prices were steep here at £3.60 a pint, the music playing was quite loud for early afternoon, which was Paloma Faith, so we managed to escape to the picnic benches out front.
