Another stone-built pub, but very different from the Elm Tree, with the original layout of small rooms largely preserved, and one - just past the toilets - seemingly adapted from a private sitting room and put into use recently. The bar is a little cramped, facing the small corridor (a drinking corridor?) and with a hatch to the front room. There were two hand pumps with Black Sheep Monty Pythons Holy Grail and Butcombe Bitter. I was told that the latter sells well, and indeed I have seen it at the Albion in Skipton where it was also popular. Of course, I went for the Black Sheep, which was not in very good condition, and I should have remembered from having it before was not to my taste anyway. The young lass serving seemed bored, and the conversation between me and the other customer died down after we had discussed Butcombe Bitter and where it came from and that's a long way isn't it.

Visited this pub for lunch 10/02/2011. Comprehensive menu, we both enjoyed the steak and ale pie. Timothy Taylor's Golden Best and Copper dragon both being served plus one other. Good food and ale.
Would recommend.
