Old Boots left this review about Ale House @ The Ripon Inn

Reopened in October 2023 after a “multi-million pound makeover” the bar open to the public is in the old pavilion previously occupied by the Turf bar. It has six pulls, with a selection of mainly local ales ; Theakstons Best, Black Sheep Best and Respire, one from Helmsley, Roosters YPA and Sharps Solar Wave as in their other local venues. Keg choices are an ABK lager, Guinness and Aspall cider. The bar itself is L shaped around a semi circular counter, with stools around the edge. Otherwise you have all leatherette booth seatings at round, rectangular or square tables. The walls are wood and exposed brick decorated with tasteful prints and photos, while the floor is laminate and tile. There’s free Wi-Fi with registration, and a big screen at the far end which was turned off. Bar snacks are available. I have to say it’s a cheaper finish than either their Harrogate or Knaresborough venues. There is a 2nd bar open to the public but time constarits didn’t allow a visit.

Old Boots left this review about Ripon Spa Hotel

The Turf is housed in the Ripon Spa Hotel on the road to Pateley Bridge just on the edge of the city centre, the bar is a single stored pavillion like extension with a separate entrance from the car park. Comfortable and tastefully decorated dining room but non dining drinkers are welcome. Muted horse racing theme. Two handpumps but only one in use serving well kept Theakstons Best Bitter, standard S&N keg line up of 1664, Fosters, Strongbow, Guinness, etc. Hotel bar prices for the beer, i.e. add 40 or 50 pence per pint to pub prices. Probably a livelier place when race goers are staying at the hotel but rather sepulchral out of season.
