We visited the Rising Sun twice while on holiday and the first time it was quiet like other pubs in the area. The refurbishment was well done but it makes the majority of the pub cold and noisy. The ‘public bar’ area is more traditional. Greene King IPA at £3.20 is good value. Still one of our favourite pubs, if only for the location. We will definitely be back next year.

We visited the Rising Sun three times on our annual holiday to Wroxham and it is still one of our favourites. We were interested to see what we would find as I had seen on the Internet that it had been shut for a refurbishment. Our first visit was late on a Wednesday afternoon and it was quiet inside. While I was taking the photos, the landlord had a chat with me about what has happened since he bought the pub in October 2011. The whole of the inside has been refurbished. There is tiled flooring throughout, a complete redecoration and all new furniture. Most importantly, the toilets have been renewed which is good to see as they were in need of it. The inside feels more like a town centre wine bar or bistro than a riverside pub on the edge of a large village in the country, but it is a nice place to be in and has been done to a high standard. The landlord confirmed that it had cost a lot. Greene King IPA and Woodforde’s Wherry were available at £3.00, Old Speckled Hen at £3.40 and Abbott Ale at £3.60 which are very good prices. We do not normally eat in pubs, but we did here on our last evening. My wife had dressed crab salad and I had a burger and chips. Both were good and at £15.00 for the two, well priced. Food is served 12:00 - 3:00 and 6:00 - 9:00, and all day at the weekend. The pub is now better than ever, pay it a visit.

We visited this pub a couple of times on our annual holiday in Wroxham. It is still a nice place to be although it seems to attract customers, (normally elderly,) who are ignorant and think they have to be served first, and then get irate when they are reminded that other people are before them. This has happened on three occasions, which is a shame. The number of cars in the car park is not a true indication of how busy the pub is, as people park to sit in their car and watch the view without visiting the pub. Despite these two points, we look forward to visiting again next year.

Out of all the pubs I have visited in the area, this has to be my favourite. It is situated on the waters edge at the Coltishall staithe overlooking the common. There is an additional bar area with a pool table to the right of the well stocked small main bar. On the left there is a restaurant area leading through to an additional restaurant area in an old granary. Both are traditionally furnished and roomy, selling the usual pub fare at sensible prices. When I visited, Woodforde's Wherry, Adnams Lighthouse and Wychwood Hobgoblin were available on draft. Understandably busy in the summer it is worth a visit to sit outside and enjoy a pint. A good way to visit is to hire a day launch in Wroxham, and travel there and back on the River Bure.
