What a very nice Pub on the corner of York Way & Oakleigh Road North I went back in here about 2 weeks ago and its not changed at all in over thirty five years since I used too go in There regularly at lunch times. The only addition I could see was a TV set apart from that it looked exactly the same as it did when use to go there regularly at dinner times or after work when I used to work at Standard Telephones in 1975 brilliant a real traditional Pub. The only down side is that theres only one Real Ale on tap Best but apart from that is a good real old style Pub with almost separate Saloon and Public bars and with the centre bar joining both at the rear and it still has a Dart Board & Beer Mats. I hope its never changed or altered by the Gastro foodie brigade.

This is a wonderfully traditional boozer that has been left in its original condition and not ruined by a refurbishment. It’s a good sized u-shaped pub that is split down the middle by the large bar. There is a TV each side for showing the football on Sky Sports and there is also a dartboard located by the entrance. A good sized beer garden can be found at the rear which is laid out with picnic tables and has some children’s toys dotted about.

A solitary ale is available, but there is a good selection of standard draught and I’ve never had a bad pint of Guinness in here. I’ve found the staff to be consistently polite and the locals are a friendly down to earth bunch.

This pub brings back memories of my childhood, sitting in the corner of the pub with half a coke and a packet of cheese and onion. There is even a fish van in the car park – Fantastic!
