An old pub gone trendy. Wooden floors, dark grey panelling with dogs-in-clothes prints, rows of seated tables, all under a strange metal-effect ceiling. Only the illuminated Watney's lettering over the bar gives a clue to its heritage, not that the distracted staff gabbling away to each other in an unknown language would have cared. Doom Bar and Purity Mad Goose on handpump, barely-drinkable despite Cask Marque accreditation. I can't see any particular reason to return.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The One Tun

Semi-modern 'pub with rooms', all rather geometrical with square tables, square detailing on the painted 2/3rd-height wood panelling, square main window panes and square-patterned ceiling tiles. Decor limited to a selection of distinctly curious dog portraits... Two of three handpumps in operation, dispensing a 'house' The One Tun (£4.35) and Doom Bar.

Things have clearly changed since Mr C. was last in here and I doubt he'd approve.

I wouldn't describe this place as 'gastro' as it serves - yawn - Thai food. That said, the interior is very modern 'mood gastro' in style. The ceiling is covered in what appear to be pressed patterned metal plates; naff. The tables have solid wood tops but with legs that look like giant Meccano painted black; naff. Music played at too loud a volume and a standard sized screen played sport, thankfully with the sound turned down. Clients appeared to be a few City types and a couple of geezers who looked like they might know their way around a local jewellery vault.

Beer: Molson Coors One Tun, Gloom Bore (clip reversed) and Ubu's Purity at £2.05 a half which is fair for the area and was on good form.

It's highly unlikely that I'd ever return here, the Bleeding Heart Tavern around the corner is better and that's not saying much.

Rather uninspiring back street pub, very bare inside with little features. L shaped room around bar with tables and chairs around the walls giving the impression the rest of the space is taken up with people standing at times?

4 real ales (Brakespear Gold, Haveys Sussex, Adnams Southwold, Wadworths 6X), though the quality of my Adnams was very poor. A suprising entry in 2012 Good Beer Guide.

The first things that I spotted as I walked into this good old L-shaped boozer were the three plasma screens and the projector on the back wall which were showing the demise of England in the cricket. It's a shame about the result, but not a shame that I found this pub as the atmosphere was good and the governor and staff were very friendly.

Black Sheep, Oxford Gold, Adnams and 6X were all available along with Scrumpy Jack, Amstel and a standard draught selection which included some very good Guinness. Thai food is available for those who are hungry, but I didn't see anyone making use of this facility.

There is an advertised garden terrace out the back which is actually a small courtyard, but it is better than standing in the street whilst having a smoke.

This is an excellent pub for sports fans that prefer to drink in a boozer rather than a chain sports bar and I will certainly be back when next in the area.
