A large establishment, spread over three floors. The dark interior of the main bar gives it a slightly clubby feel, while downstairs there is a plasticky 'cocktail bar', and upstairs a sports bar. Several TV screens were showing a selection of sports, and that was just the main bar - didn't venture upstairs. Draught beers on offer were Doom Bar, London Pride, Trooper and Whitstable Bay and seemed to be in fair condition, albeit pricey even for the West End.

Three weak ales one of which was off. Usual keg offerings. Nothing special at all.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Comedy

Slightly odd sort of place, with the ground-floor pub sandwiched between the basement bar (often used for live music) and the upstairs lounge and comedy club. The place seems to have been refurbished since my last visit some four years ago, with smarter dark-wood furniture but retaining the pictures of famous performers on the walls. All four handpumps were working this time too, with Pride, Doom Bar, Whitstable Bay and the seasonal Bread of Heaven from Brains (costly at £4.35) available. Overall, something of an improvement.

Smart modern looking pub with downstairs area for comedy/music. Caricatures of famous comedians line the walls but just give it a tacky tourist appeal.Three cask beer on Pride ,Doombar and Bishops Finger. As there is a Sheps pub selling BF only 50 yards away it is a comedy of errors maybe.

It was pretty quiet in here during my recent early evening visit and I got the feeling that it is more geared towards entertainment in the evenings. I counted three plasma screens for showing Sky Sports in the street level bar and there were also signs for an upstairs bar that houses a big screen and pool table. I found the staff to be friendly and my Guinness was well served, but was very expensive. Brains SA Gold and Pride were also available alongside some standard draught products.

The background music was playing due to no sport being aired and it was at a reasonable volume, but this place could do with some TLC as it has seen better days and I wouldn’t plan on a return visit.
