Originally the Sun and later rebuilt as the Rising Sun in 1897, I'll leave the description of this pub to the What?ub website along with its well documented travails as Presley's (yuck!) as it was in the late 1980s. I'm not sure if I ever visited this pub before, but as I worked in an office around the corner from the late '80s to early '90s, chances are I did.
Inside, and it's a pub which underwent substantial degradation around 30 years ago and it shows - essentially it's a typical Greene Ker-ching London West End pub with more TVs than you can shake a stick at with a very obviously Emirates-orientated crowd, judging by the enthusiasm that erupted each time Arsenal scored.
There were four ales on offer, including the obligatory GK IPA. The barman was devoting his time to mixing cocktails while customers waited, bank cards in hand. As there was quite a queue ahead of me and as a single cocktail takes about 10 minutes to mix, I decided to cut my losses and leave. Of additional interest is that, picked out in gold paint, there's a ceramic Truman's eagle to the fine exterior, from where this pub is best appreciated.

A strangely-shaped corner pub in the middle of Tottenham Court Road, with a long narrow side, opening out into a L-shaped area behind. There is a rather nice bar back, and several Sports TVs around the walls. Five handpumps offered a couple of guests alongside the usual Greene King offerings: the sampled Truman Blindside was in excellent condition.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Rising Sun

Quite a grand exterior, with some fancy masonry decoration on the upper three storeys. The traditional interior of the thin ground-floor bar has probably lost much of its original interest over the years, and now is a fairly typical ex-Taylor Walker Greene King outlet. Sports TV. On this visit I found IPA and Band of Brothers plus Sambrook's Pumphouse Pale Ale, Truman's Blindside (£4.60) and Hammerton N7 as guests on the five handpumps.

I liked the grand exterior of this pub and also noted the name of the pub in mosaic tiles at the main threshold. Three ales on handpump, Trumans Swift was the best choice on this visit.

You can see that this is yet another classic Victorian pub from the architecture of the building. I believe that it has always retained the name of The Rising Sun, as you can see the name enshrined in the floor mosaic at the corner entrance to the pub. The high ceilings with their Lincrusta style decoration are typical of late Victorian decor, but there’s little if anything else left inside from that period. Some of the dark wood panelling on the back wall looks quite attractive, although I doubt whether it’s been there since Victorian times. It’s got the typical look of a Punch Pubco pub – faux chalkboards etc. There’s the usual mix of seating; stools, tables and chairs, and a few high stools and high tables. I didn’t spot any sofas though. There were a couple of widescreen TVs high up on the walls, typically showing Sky Sports and muted. The clientele seemed to be mainly city workers probably late back from lunch.
They had London Pride, Doom Bar, Young’s London Gold, and Adnam’s Bitter on, with a fifth pump not in use, during my midweek late lunchtime visit. I doubt whether you would visit this pub just for the ales, or for the typical Punch Pubco ambience, but it’s OK for a pint if you happen to be passing.

This L-shaped pub had 4 real ales on and a selection of standard and premium lager during my last visit. I found the barman that served me to be terse and the atmosphere to be nonexistent. Granted, I wasn't expecting great surroundings as this is in effect a high street pub with a transient crowd, but there are better in the area.
