Blackthorn _ left this review about The Blackbird

A traditional old boozer just off the main A413, this is a no frills establishment that has resisted the temptation to gastro-cise itself like so many of it’s contemporaries.

It consists of a small bar at the front which has a small bar counter, some exposed stone walling and rough white plasterwork elsewhere, and this is cosy enough in it’s way with a few old beams on the ceiling, carpet on the floor and a brick chimney breast that had the remains of a real fire in it. On the walls were a few photo’s of sports teams and an old Guinness mirror. There is however also a darts board and a plasma up in the corner that was showing the football, so it’s not quite as cosy as it could be.

To the rear is a slightly larger bar with a flagstone floor and a pool table. Beyond this was an area that was in darkness, although may perhaps be used for bands. There seemed to be a number of large speakers tacked up. The only punters in here were locals sat up at the bar. Food is not offered here currently, although the friendly landlord did offer to knock up a cheese sandwich.

Beers choice was a little disappointing with just Thwaites Original on tap, although there was also a tap for Tribute which appeared to have run out and there were a couple of keg offerings from Theakstons. The solitary cider was Strongbow, unfortunately.
