Not a bad Batemans pub, with the bar to the right hand side. I had XXXB which was OK. Strange area to the left which looks as though there used to be a pool table in it, but no longer.

A superb back street locals pub where a couple of friendly locals pretended to be door men and said 'you cant come in here with trainers on'. We had a bit of a joke with them but all in good humour. How I remember that from our night club and trendy bar days trying to be night clubs some years back!!

Inside this pleasant pub had Batemans ales on which were well kept.

Well worth the walk through the older part of town to pay a visit.

An attractive, Georgian styled brick corner pub, with sash windows and blue and white pilastered frontage. It is a GBG Bateman's pub, with a rear patio area. We received a warm welcome at our visit, which was several months back. A nice little community pub, the place has a few rooms. The main room has a mixed wood and tile floor, with wood panel walls, white ceiling, brick fire, with mixed tables and bench seating. Beer bottles and eclectic ephemera are dotted about and displayed on the walls - and there is a dart board, TV (not on) and a free jukebox. There is a raised area, mainly in cream, wood and brick, with a fireplace and lots of film and music posters on the walls. There is a pool room at the back, in white, with red carpet. It has TVs (not on) and footy pictures on the walls. Beer; Bateman's XB, XXB and MILD were on (the MILD went as i asked), but the XXB was in fine condition. They do serve food. A really nice little stop-off and i would happily return here.

An attractive and traditional local boozer, although very close to the centre of Boston.
The welcome was warm and my Spitfire was drawn off before a crystal clear pint was presented. This is a clearly a place which cares about its ale quality and deserves its GBG listing on that basis. Sadly, none of the beers on offer: Batemans XB, XXXB, Dark Mild and the aforementioned Spitfire, are to my taste and the Spitfire, despite its fine condition, was awful.
A nice pub but only really worth a visit if you're a Batemans fan.

Tucked away down a side street, the pub is much larger inside than it first appears. The entrance leads directly to the bar with a low ceiling area either side of the door, with signs that music is popular with the locals.Seating is fitted benches, tables and stools. There is a snug up some stairs to the rear with a long sash window , high ceiling, coal affect gas fire ,film poster decoration, five numbered tables and straight backed chairs ,while down a short corridor there is a lower back room with a pool table popular with younger drinkers.
The musak was being played loud until we realised that they were playing a classic Who album which eased concerns.
This Bateman's tied house is GBG 2012 listed, but the five handpumps were offering a real cider,Bateman's XB,XXXB,Dark Mild and a guest in the shape of the awful Spitfire,a schoolboy error in anyones book.Nothing wrong with quality ,just an uninspiring choice which might limit my enthusiasm for a return despite it's community feel.
