Komakino . left this review about The Pointer

Recently selected as one of the Telegraph Food team's 10 favourite British gastropubs, and having returned to its original name of The Pointer after many years as The Red Lion, this pub in the windy village of Brill has gone down the food route in much the same way the nearby Pheasant. That said, as a free house, the site of four handpumps, all dispensing local ales was a great sign to see. These were XT Pointer on two pumps (an own-badged version of XT4 from the nearby brewery in Long Crendon), Rebellion Roasted Nuts and one from Vale Brewery (as it should be, given the proximity). My pint was served in a handled glass as standard which was good to see and the service was friendly and efficient. The only real criticism was the pretentiousness of some of the furnishings, but I guess this comes with the gastro territory.
