Extensive building work. Looks like a new roof going on. No indication to if reopening as a pub!

When I was younger and had just started drinking this pub was called the New Bricklayers. I assume that sometime in the past it was simply the Bricklayers. It has a standard brick built exterior with no interesting features at all really. Inside it used to be a three room layout that has been opened up but the individual rooms are still obvious. There’s a lounge area to the left as you enter with a dart board. The one on the right has a large and very obtrusive big screen on the wall. This is usually used for sport, but when I called in had the VH1 music channel on much too loud. Both the lounges are nicely decorated with blue flecked settles and leather look stools. There’s an area at the rear that has a pool table. This pub has never been known for it’s cask ale but they've had one handpump selling Hydes Original at a competitive £1.95 for a while now and it's a decent pint as well. The other pumps on the bar also sold Hydes smooth and dark. It didn’t used to be a Hydes pub but now appears to have their range on which is a great improvement. It’s OK for one.
