Bucking Fastard left this review about Cock & Bottle

A large Thwaites tied house, this is where the locals gather. The bar is opposite the front door and had four handpumps serving Thwaites ales,Lancaster Bomber(£3.10),Wainwright,Original and Nutty Black in reasonal nick if you like the rather old school style from this family brewer which seems to have missed the new wave of brewing excellence evident from local microbreweries .
The two seating area from the bar were set up for dining on my trip but there was a seperate room rather lacking in furniture apart from a chesterfield and round comfy chairs where you could just drink. The large function room was unused, but a section beyond this was lit and offered more seating.
Food is popular with pub grub mains £6-£8,some grills £10+,sandwiches £3.50 and a senior citizens menu.Food seems to end at 8pm and there is entertainment every evening such as quiz, curry night, disco, music .We had the misfortune to encounter bingo night with all the pa speakers blaring out two fat ladies, legs eleven, clickety click making any other thought process impossible. The exterior benches started to fill up,but the enthusiasm of the coffee and tea drinking bingo players was reminiscent of Blackpool on a wet afternoon.
Tarleton is an attractive village but I am not sure I would rush back to use either of the pubs, unless I suddenly found the need to get my eyes down.
