Blue Scrumpy left this review about Rose & Crown
The Rose & Crown is situated in the backstreets of Bury, 10 minutes walk from the town centre and not far from the football ground. It had a later opening time than most. So, it was my last stop in the town.
It's a corner pub, which is fairly small and cosy. But you're guaranteed a warm welcome. With 5 handpulls unclipped, the bar looked a bit sparse. The regular Tetley Bitter & Oakham Citra beers were accompanied by Bradfield Farmer's Blonde as a guest.
Above average for the pubs I tried in the area on this visit.

It was busy here, but not fantastically so, ahead of Bury's home game against Luton Town. Being a Tuesday night meant there were not the large numbers of Hatters fans that might have made it here on a weekend. It's a pleasant back street local most of the time, I'd imagine, and the five hand pumps had five non-challenging beers which presumably suit local tastes: a Tetleys house beer, Copper Dragon Golden Pippin and Best, Wychwood Hobgoblin Gold, Marstons New World. Definitely one to try if you're going to the football, but if doing a tour of the real ale pubs this may be a little bit out of the way.

Pleasant pub in a little backwater. Was originally the Rose & Crown, changed to Tap & Spile and then back again. Usually has 3/4 real ales on tap. Can get very busy when Bury are at home and during Bury Beer Festival. Have been coming in here once or twice a year (I don't live in Bury) since it was the Tap and John & Helen were the landlord & landlady. I still see them occasionally although they are no longer a couple. It's a nice little locals pub.
